Our Story

Humanitarian Association Divita - Miracles

The vision of the Divita – Miracles Center in Mostar is to provide the best possible orthopedic care and assistance to its patients in the shortest possible time. It is very important to understand the needs of each patient in time, that’s why we, at the Divita – Miracles Center, try to respond to their needs and requests, but also to follow the global trends in the world of orthopedics and orthopedic aids.

Each of our patients is given maximum attention by all employees, and what the patient says is listened to, in order to find the most ideal solution for everyone.

Vision and Mission

VISION – A world in which we will provide free prostheses and rehabilitation, physical and mental well-being, education, employment and independence to people with physical disabilities – amputees.

MISSION – At the Miracles Center, we want to support and empower socio-economically disadvantaged people with physical disabilities – amputees and their families, ensure that no amputee goes through the process alone after losing a limb, after making free prostheses, give them the opportunity to lead an independent life, as well as providing physical and emotional rehabilitation.

Humanitarian association Divita – Miracles was created with the initiative and support of the British humanitarian organization Miracles in June 2009. The British humanitarian organization Miracles (https://www.miraclesthecharity.org/) was founded in 1993 in the ruins and horror of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992 – 1995). Our vision then was to provide practical support and comfort to the poor, as well as to alleviate the suffering of war-affected children.

Fifteen years of this vision and motivation have allowed us to help thousands of people in need.

When the leadership of the Miracles humanitarian organization from UK assessed that Mostar, as well as the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, needed a local organization, which would take over most of the projects in HNC, which until then had been led by H.O. Miracles, a proposal was made to local employees to establish an association that has all the epithets of a world organization: experience in humanitarian work, professional and trained staff, a modern orthopedic workshop and most importantly, the will and desire to work and help people in need.

In a very short time was created H.A. Divita – Miracles that works in several areas, ie. gathers citizens for the purpose of creating a better, more humane and quality life in homes for neglected children, provides assistance in solving the problems of homeless children, assistance to children with special needs The main activity of the organization is the production of prosthetic aids for people with disabilities, primarily for those who are socially and economically vulnerable, child amputees, whether they are military or civilian victims of war.

The Miracles Center exists to facilitate the first stages of rehabilitation by providing high quality prosthetic care combined with an initial support group that provides an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies or first-hand information.

Over the years, MC has been the center of various workshops, trainings and seminars, such as mine awareness programs, strategic leadership seminars, effective communication, intercultural education.

Divita – Miracles, in collaboration with Los Rosales, presented Trauma Competent Care (TCC) with the help of Back2Back Ministries. The mission of this project is to help each individual to progress and overcome trauma from childhood or youth, and also to test the concept of TCC for evaluating the value of the curriculum within culture of B&H.

Divita – Miracles has made and delivered over 1250 prostheses for victims of landmines, citizens with disabilities as a result of traffic accidents, injuries at work, as a result of illness or children born without limbs. regardless of their place of residence, gender, religious beliefs or socio-economic profile. We have increased the opportunities for mine victims and citizens with disabilities to become fully active members of their communities – in education, employment, politically, socially and within their families.

We work to address fundamental human rights issues related to poverty, especially access to prosthetic care and rehabilitation. Rehabilitation is the process of removing factors that limit the activity and participation of a disabled person, so that he/she can achieve and maintain the highest possible level of independence and quality of life: physical, mental, social and professional.

The ultimate goal of rehabilitation is to provide the individual with the best opportunity for full and effective participation and inclusion in society, with opportunities for learning, work and access to services.
